Thousands of engineers who were recruited by wipro when it visited their college during their engineering got a mail by wipro today saying that they cannot call the candidate to join Wipro Technologies, rather they ask them to join Wipro BPO and thats too at a very short notice. The mail also says that if the candidate fail to join the BPO, then the previous offer by Wipro Technologies also stand canceled.
I say, WTF. I was also recruited by Wipro but I have not recieved this mail, yet.
I remember the things that the company said when the guys from Wipro came over to our college. They encouraged us to work harder and be innovative so that we can compete with our biggest rival, China. WOW….long live Wipro for this innovative plan – ” How to ruin the career of young engineers “.
I do not know what the hell with these guys do now. As the things stand now, there are no job in the market. Wipro recruited around 15000 engineers all over India. If 25% of these have recieved this letter then its over 3500 engineers. Where from can the goverment generate jobs for another 3500.
This step surly has darnished Wipro’s image in the market. Now, engineers shall be reluctant to look forward to Wipro as a company they want to join, for atleast sometime.

I got it. The other 31 students from my college also got it. I am from orissa. AFAIK barring 2 colleges, kiit and iter, all colleges in orissa got it. And i really dunno wat to do. Wipro sucks big time. It ruined my carrier.

I am really sorry but I think that this case should be highlighted.
Screw Wipro and ban it from further campus recruitment.
NIST berhampur has also not got the mail.. people are devastated man.. guys r cryin n some f them are numb.. its not sinkin in.. i aint gonna join any company but juz the look at their faces is aweful.. i mean .. wats next for them.. wher do they go ?? wat do they do ?? wipro recruits in kolkata are arranging a meetin in city center and they plan to go and talk to wipro people ..!! if anybody has any contacts with reporters pls let them kno abt this.. this aint a joke !!
Its very ridiculous to hear such things. I cant imagine what those who got the mail should be goin thru.
More than that , those poor students need to pay 75K bond amount for joining the fuckin BPO!
I think WIPRO should banned by all the educational institutions from taking part in the recruitment drives!

Banning Wipro may not be very practical but BAN IT.

I also don’t think its not at all apt on part of Wipro. Its a case of ethics…. when they have committed something they should not back down on that…. I am sure when ppl join Wipro they would tell you all about values and ethics…..and how important they are….so boss follow them yourself too….
I would not say BPO sucks but when one is recruited for Wipro Technologies….. he/she should not be joining Wipro BPO….
Be happy, that you got to know about WIpro beforehand. Atleast you can look for a new opportunity. I am a graduate from NIT, and currently on bench, for past 10 months. Reason, technical incompetency, in fixing defects in a stupid intranet website. And guess what, I was the designer of the official website of my institute, and its annual technical festival. Crap. Why the hell did I joined Wipro? I can’t go to a new job either now, as out of 2 years of experience, 1 year is spent on bench doing nothing. I don’t even remember anything I learnt in college. My whole career as I predicted is over. Wipro Sucks, big time. Please, do not join Wipro at any cost. Go to TCS, HCL, or any smaller company, or open a pan shop at home, but please do not join Wipro. Its a humble request, and an advice.
Also, I forgot to tell you, 70% of employees, here in wipro including managers, are B.Sc. or B.Com. graduates. And those guys work for half the salary as yours, and put in 12 hours daily, even if project is on time. So, the idiot managers want you to do the same. Plus, if you have to stay after 6pm, you can’t go to pee either. All the toilets are locked after 6:30pm. No air-conditioning after 5:30pm, no tea-coffee breaks (even if you are paying for the coffee). Managers think the only measure of your performance is no. of hours you spent in office. So, if you can finish up the task in 5 hours, you are non-performer, and if you are taking 12 hours for same task, you exceed their expectations. Also, don’t forget about the fact, that 90% of employees in bangalore are from south india (especially tamil nadu). So, even in meetings, you can expect them to discuss everything in Tamil, and then asking you to take part in those meetings actively. Also, their is no written rule about the dress code. If you are Tamilian, you can wear Dhoti in the office, but if you are North Indian, you can’t even wear Round-Neck T-Shirt. Appraisals are totally in your senior’s hands. You will not know about your appraisal rating, till its final. And once its final, you can’t ask to change it, even if you have substantial proofs. Also, if you meet their expectation (they expect you to deliver 130% on the required objectives, to meet their expectations, bullshit), you will get 5thousand per year hike, which is less than 2%.
Even after this many of issues, someone joins wipro, or says that Wipro is good, then he/she has got no future. All the B.Sc. graduates working in Wipro will always tell you that Wipro is good, atleast for them. Reason is simple, that those guys don’t even deserve that job. They are not good at the inferior most programming task they are assigned to. I have got a lot of refernces to prove my points, in case, anyone is looking for one.
Please do this favour to your life, do not join WIpro, even if they are ready to give you a job in Wipro Technologies.
Oh yeah, those bastards say you will get a chance to meet Mr. Premji. Forget it, you won’t. That is the case with only the managers at higher administration posts.
